[ Um, take me back now ] I've seen more than enough -- I didn't even know what was here when I clicked, seriously.

Measurable effects of graduate school:

In 2005 I graduate from Trinity University with a BA Mathematics and a BS Computer Science. This led me directly to graduate school in Statistics, with an interest in Computation and Bayesian Analysis. The Department of Statistical Science at Duke focusses primarily on these topics and emphasizes quickly acclimating students to research, which is why Duke was the right place for me. In 2008 I received my MA Statistics, for work modeling birthweight and gestational age jointly using mixture models. This led me to Intermediate Variables (IVs), Causal Inference, and Principal Stratification (PS) which adjusts for IVs without bias, and Nonparametric modeling in these contexts. My current work extends PS to the observational setting via umeasured confounding sensitivity analyses, and models continuous principal strata using Dirichlet processes and Copulas. I will recieve my PhD in May 2010.

I have really begun to enjoy working hard in my graduate studies. The more you work, the better you get, and people like what they're good at... at least that's how it works for me. Outside of school, I have a few favoriate activities. Growing up Soccer was my main sport. I ended up playing at Trinity and winning an NCAA championship with the team. I still play soccer, but Tennis has replaced soccer as my main physical outlet since coming to graduate school, and I have really come to appreciate the constant focus it trains. I have always liked music, and eventually settled on guitar as my main instrument. I like writing and playing my own Music. Me and my brothers have a band called For My Parents. I like eating and living in a healthy way. Each morning and evening you can find me Cooking Vegitarian food from scratch. Finally, me and Chappo the dog like Running and Playing Fetch... Okay, i like those too.

What's Next? I'm going to be a professor! Maybe at an awesome liberal arts school, or maybe I'll take a postdoc and prepare for a high-powered research. I've gotten used to the campus atmosphere and it has everything I want: TEACHING, RESEARCH, sport facilities, sports events, concerts, etc. Awesome campuses, mountains, forests, rivers, and convenient access to outdoor activities is what I'm looking for. When I find a great place I'm gonna bring my family along and we'll enjoy the outdoors and everything together.
