Instructions for Midterm Exam 2



Relevant Topics

This exam focuses on topics covered in lecture from October 16 through and including November 6. These topics include:

Questions on material discussed in lectures prior to October 16 may still be covered on the exam, although the emphasis is very much on the newer material.

You should know how to form confidence intervals and test statistics given relevant information, and you should be able to interpret p-values and confidence intervals.  You should know the differences among chi-squared tests and the other significance tests discussed in class.

Logistics

The exam is in class on Tuesday, November 18.

Write all answers in exam paper.  Answer all questions concisely and clearly.  Pay attention to instructions that limit the number of sentences you should write when answering.  Extra verbiage may be not be read or may be penalized.

For the exam, you are allowed to use one sheet of 8 by 11 paper filled with any information you want to put on them.  Both sides of the sheet can be used.  You are not permitted to use any other material for the exams.

You may be asked to do calculations involving the normal curve and chi-squared curve.  Bring tables for each curve.

Bring a calculator to the exam.
