Jarad Niemi
I am a recent graduate of the Department of Statistical Science at
Duke University. I will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of
Statistics and Applied Probability at the University of California,
Santa Barbara.
For my current research interests, please see my research
page. I am always looking for interesting collaborations, but my
areas that I would like to get into include:
- Statistics:
- Variable selection incorporating covariate cost
- Bayesian model averaging of empirical data
- Sequential Bayesian analysis and decision making
- Quantum computing approaches to statistical analysis
- Applied areas:
- Ecology (environmental indicators)
- Outbreak detection (influenza being a prime example)
- Energy (sustainable production)
