I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Applied Mathematics and Statistics department of Baskin School of Engineering, UC Santa Cruz. I grew up in Kolkata, a charming city in eastern India. For my undergraduate work I attended the Indian Statistical Institute and continued for a masters degree. I pursued my doctoral research under supervision of Prof. Mike West in the Department of Statistical Science of Duke University and graduated in May 2011.

Currently I am working on Bayesian sequence alignment and phylogenetic analyses with Abel Rodriguez. Other research directions involve Bayesian nonparametric methods, spatial GMRF modelling and Bayesian computing with GPGPU.
