I am a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of Statistics at Duke University. My primary research interests are in Bayesian Statistics, Parallel Computing, GPU Computing, Machine Learning, and High Dimensional Data.

My current research focus is a collaboration between Duke and Yahoo! Labs. I am developing new recommendation systems with massive, high-dimensional datasets. These datasets are usually very sparse and often include categorical responses. I am also involved in development of statistical methods in metabolomics using ideas from functional analysis, mixture modeling, and image analysis. On the other end of the application spectrum, I enjoy market research applications including item response/survey analysis and forecasting.

My personal interests include hosting game/movie nights and spending time with my wife, Heather. We are actively involved in our Church and community. I also like to drink coffee while talking about statistics, computation, and just about anything else.
