"Some Applications of Bayesian Methods in Forestry Research"
Abstract: Bayesian methods are increasingly useful in forestry research. This talk presents a variety of applications with which I have been involved over the past 15 years with Ed Green of Rutgers University. Most have involved problems in forestry that we felt would be well handled by Bayesian methods but at least one involved a method in search of a problem. Among the applications discussed will be estimation of forest removals, estimation of tree volume equations, and estimation problems concerned with the Swiss forest inventory.
