PostScript Resources
The Duke Statistics working papers are distributed as PostScript documents. If your PC (either Mac or DOS/Windows) does not have the ability to print or view PostScript documents, Duke Statistics recommends two possible solutions:
- Obtain and install the latest version of Ghostscript and GSview.
These are quite powerful PostScript viewing tools which can also
act as printdrivers. They may also be set up to display PostScript
files out of Netscape or Internet Explorer. Since a large number of
scientific papers are stored on-line as PostScript documents,
this solution may prove more useful.
Visit the Ghostscript and GSview home page for downloading/installation instructions. (NOTE: There is also a Mac version.)
- You may be able to print the document, if you have a PostScript-capable printer available and you are using:
- DOS or DOS-MODE under Windows3.1, Windows95, or WindowsNT
- Download the paper to your C:\TEMP directory
- CD C:\TEMP
- COPY filename LPT1:
- MACOS 7.5 or greater
- Download the paper to your Desktop
- Drag the file and drop it over your printer icon.
- DOS or DOS-MODE under Windows3.1, Windows95, or WindowsNT
Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee the success of either of these methods; however, we firmly believe that first option should prove to be a more effective and useful way of handling PostScript.
