Duke students who have passed their preliminary exam can apply for financial support from Duke by filling out the conference travel fellowship form. Other financial support to attend these conferences is typically available as descibed below. If there are any other conferences that you think should be added to this list please contact us at gcc@stat.duke.edu as we will be happy to add them for you.

Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM)

The Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM), sponsored by the American Statistical Association, is the biggest meeting of statisticians each year. JSM is held each summer but the location changes from year to year. Anyone who wants to present at this meeting is given the opportunity. Contributed talks are allowed a 15 minute presentation slot while invited talks are allowed a longer period of time. Abstract submissions usually open in the preceding December.

International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA)

The ISBA conferences are held every two years, with every second one held jointly with the Valencia meetings. These conferences have become one of the premier events in Bayesian statistics. Meetings are typically held internationally so those interested in attending need to arrange early for financial support. Abstract submissions typically open in the September or October preceding the conference.

Case Studies in Bayesian Statistics at Carnegie Mellon

Case studies is an applied Bayesian methods workshop typically held in October of odd numbered years. Young researches are especially encouraged to attend. Typically, a large group of Duke students attend this event together. Financial support is available by application and is typically granted. Abstract submissions typically open the in the summer preceding the conference.

SAMSI has a partnership with Duke University so Duke students often can get financial support through the Affiliates program. Research assitant opportunites are also available for Duke students interested in SAMSI programs.
